Imagine your favorite Westchase District park events and programs with even more space to enjoy them. Camden Park, a 3.4-acre park under construction at 2951 Wilcrest Drive, is set to open in Spring 2025 and will become the new home for all the free programs and events that have outgrown Woodchase Park.
“The community has really embraced what we’re doing at Woodchase Park, but the truth is we’ve run out of room,” said Irma Sanchez, Westchase District president & CEO. “Camden Park will give us the space we need to keep growing and improving our programs,” Sanchez added.
Take the annual Trick or Treat event as an example. When it debuted at Woodchase Park in 2021, about 800 people showed up. This year, the crowd peaked at more than 2,000, leaving the park bursting at the seams. With Camden Park’s extra acreage, expansive activity lawn and larger pavilion, those popular events — along with others like Christmas and Easter celebrations, movie nights and Spring Break activities — will have plenty of room to thrive.
Fitness Finds its New Home
Fitness fans will also have more space to stretch, sweat and move. Community favorites like Zumba, tai chi and boot camp will make the jump to Camden Park where a larger activity lawn, exercise equipment and easy access to the trail network will open up new opportunities.
“We’re hoping to bring running and walking clubs into the mix,” said Louis Jullien, Westchase District’s director of open spaces. “And Camden Park will be the perfect location to host our annual Trails Without Trash event.”
Features for Furry Friends, Fun Seekers and Foodies
Camden Park’s connectivity to the trail system isn’t its only advantage. The new park will also have a larger dog park which means more room for furry friends and the possibility of dog-focused events. Meanwhile, the covered rooftop terrace on the treehouse building will offer a scenic spot for private event rentals. Live music fans can look forward to concerts and other performances on the big activity lawn.
One feature that’s already creating a buzz is Sunday Press, the park’s onsite restaurant. It will offer healthy meals, fresh coffee and even wine and beer. With a designated area for food trucks as well, event days will be a foodie’s dream.
Something for Everyone
Camden Park will also follow a seasonal programming schedule to match daylight hours and peak visitor times. SEAL Security officers and guest service attendants will ensure a safe and welcoming environment during all programming hours.
Whether you’re a fan of fitness, live music, dog events or looking for something to do with your kids, Camden Park promises something for everyone.
