Park Rules
HOURS
- Camden Park is open 7 days a week, from 7 am to 9 pm.
PARK FURNITURE
- Chairs and tables may be moved around the park.
- Furniture should be used for its intended purpose; standing on chairs or tables is grounds for eviction.
- Park furniture is not allowed in the Dog Park.
EVENTS
- Vending, sales, and events are prohibited without a permit.
- Special events or parties of 20 or more people must be booked by contacting Westchase District at 713-780-9434.
GARDENS AND LANDSCAPE
- Do not pick any plant material from planted areas or planters.
- Do not dump ice or any other material in planting areas.
- Enjoy open areas and lawns without entering flowerbeds or planting areas.
SPORTS
- The following activities are not permitted:
- Organized team sports
- Cycling
- Skating, rollerblading, or skateboarding
- Golfing
- Recreational use of scooters
WASTE
- Rummaging through trash receptacles and littering is prohibited.
- Place all recyclables and waste in appropriate receptacles.
CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA
- Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, who is responsible for their safety.
- Adults are only allowed in the play area when accompanying children.
- Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and roller skates are prohibited within the play area (bike racks are available along Wilcrest Drive).
- Children are not allowed on the rooftop terrace without adult supervision.
- Climbing on the water feature equipment (e.g., pups, troughs) is prohibited.
- Swim diapers are recommended for children under 4 at the water feature.
- Do not use the water feature when ill or contagious.
- Drinking water from the water feature is prohibited.
- Footwear is recommended at all times.
- Surfaces may become hot with sun exposure or slippery when wet—please exercise caution.
- Caregivers must encourage children to use basic safety habits.
- Be considerate of others—no rough playing or yelling.
- Take turns on playground equipment and use it properly.
- Non-service animals are not allowed in the children’s play area.
- Glass containers are prohibited.
IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, DIAL 911, THEN NOTIFY A PARK ATTENDANT.
DOG PARK AREA
- The City of Houston and/or Westchase District have no liability or responsibility for injuries in the Dog Park.
- A complete set of Dog Park Rules is posted at the Dog Park entrance.
- By City ordinance 2003-1275, sec 6-2,4, pet owners must clean up after their pet.
- Dogs are allowed off-leash only within the Dog Park area.
- Dog park hours: 7 am to 9 pm.
- Owners are legally and financially responsible for their dog’s behavior.
- Limit of 2 dogs per person per visit.
- Dogs must be:
- Properly licensed and vaccinated
- Wearing City of Houston registration and rabies tags on their collar
- Leashed while entering, leaving, and within the transition corridor (owners must have a visible leash at all times)
- Under verbal and sight control at all times
- Free from aggressive behavior, biting, fighting, or aggressive barking
- Dogs with a known history of dangerous behavior are prohibited.
- Puppies under 4 months and female dogs in heat are not allowed.
- No children under 12 are allowed in the Dog Park.
- Children aged 13-18 must be supervised by an adult and behave appropriately:
- No running, shouting, or chasing dogs
- No petting other people’s dogs without the owner’s permission
- The following are prohibited in the Dog Park:
- Dog or people food
- Smoking
- Outside vendors or equipment rentals
- Violations of City Code result in fines and loss of Dog Park privileges.
POP-UP PARTIES
- Allowed for groups of fewer than 40 people, with the following guidelines:
- Not permitted under the pavilion, reading room, or on the rooftop terrace (these require a paid reservation).
- Tables and chairs cannot be held more than one hour in advance.
- Limit of 5 tables and 10 chairs (must be returned after use).
- Decorations limited to tabletops—nothing may be attached to park signs, trees, fences, or structures.
- Confetti, silly string, and glitter are not allowed.
- No outside furniture or setups (e.g., banners, piñatas, tents, speakers, electrical connections).
- No vendors without prior approval (e.g., face painters, food trucks, magicians, petting zoos, inflatables, DJs).
- Outside food is permitted, but onsite cooking and public food distribution are prohibited.
- Glass containers and breakable serving ware are not allowed.
- Alcohol is not permitted.
- No exclusive use of park areas—event hosts cannot ask others to leave.
- All park rules and directions from park personnel must be followed.
PROHIBITED ITEMS AND ACTIVITIES
- Glass containers
- Outside alcoholic beverages
- Drug use
- Soliciting or panhandling
- Plastic tarps and shopping carts
- Feeding wildlife
- Motorized vehicles
- Hunting or use of firearms
- Outside furniture
- Tents or other structures
- Excessive noise, amplified sound, or playing musical instruments
- Camping (per Ord. #2016 – 65, Sec. 32-38)
- Open flames, grilling, or cooking
- Driving poles, stakes, or flags into the ground
- Attaching items to park features
- Piñatas, bounce houses, confetti, silly string, kites, and drones
- Obstructing park entrances
CAMDEN PARK IS A SMOKE-FREE ZONE BY CITY ORDINANCE.
- Guest Services Attendants have the authority to ask park patrons to leave if they do not comply with park rules.
- The parking lot is for park patrons only, with a three-hour parking limit. Improperly parked vehicles will be towed.
- Destroying public property is prohibited by Title 19, Chapter 191 of the Government Code of Texas.
